By default, the Compojoom component – formerly known as Joomla! Comment – is not "nofollow free". Fortunately, there is a very simple hack that can be done in order to make it "nofollow free". Please note that this hack applies to version 4 of the component as the previous version has a different file structure.

This being said, this is how to do it (it’s really simple!):

Download the file:

site_root/components/com_comment/classes/joomlacomment/JOSC_post.php

Search for the "nofollow" sting in the file. Depending on the version you are using, it might be on line 317 (version 4.1.3), 541 (version 4.1.4) or elsewhere.

Once the "nofollow" string is found in a place like:

<a class=’postwebsite’ rel=’external nofollow’ href=’".$website."’ …

Delete the word "nofollow", resulting something like:

<a class=’postwebsite’ rel=’external’ href=’".$website."’ …

Upload the file back to the server.

Clean the cache, if you have enabled it.

That’s all. I hope it helps.

A4Tech PK35N is a small and practical webcam. Most people say it’s old and, as such, it lacks performance. I disagree, as it does what it’s supposed to do. The one that I have is fully functional and I see no reason why I should dump a fully functional device and get a new one due to driver issues, especially since I’ve only used it about a dozen times.

To keep it short, I managed to get my webcam working with Windows 7 Professional x64 and I strongly believe this will also work for other x64 versions of Windows 7 as well, such as Windows 7 Ultimate x64, possibly even Windows 7 x86 (32 bit versions). The idea is simple. Since A4Tech says that the device does not require a driver, yet Windows x64 does not have the proper driver, I thought I should get a compatible driver to work with this webcam. And yes, it worked, no hassle, no bullshit.

This is what I did:

I plugged the webcam into an USB port. Of course, Windows 7 x64 did not have the driver and the status of the device was similar to: I know you have plugged this is, but I don’t have the driver for it. The device showed up in Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > Unspecified. At this point, the device was not functioning.

I changed the driver of the device to Microsoft > Imaging Device, or something similar by means of "Let me choose the driver for it". Basically, this doesn’t provide the driver, but brings the device controls in a state where a new compatible driver can be easily loaded.

I downloaded the camera-a-driver.zip driver package from DriversCollection (thanks!). The archive seems to be broken, yet I managed to extract its contents to a folder. I went to where I extracted the archive contents and ran the Setup.exe program. This installed a new item in my Start menu under Start > All Programs > A4 TECH PC Camera H.

Running AMCAP.exe showed the correct images, namely me.

Please note that I’ve uploaded the driver archive file into my Download section, so I have my driver at my disposal at any time. You can use this as an alternate link. Webmasters, please do not hotlink to my file(s). I work for a living and I pay for my bandwidth.

This "Windows could not apply unattended settings during pass (null)" error is generated by multiple causes, among which, the most frequent one is having dual-architecture unatend.xml files.

The structure of the XML file requires that the user specifies the system processor architecture, either i386 or amd64 (not both), like in the following example (setup language setting):

<component name= "Microsoft – Windows – International – Core – WinPE" processorArchitecture= "amd64" publicKeyToken= "31bf3856ad364e35" language= "neutral" versionScope= "nonSxS" xmlns : wcm= "http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns : xsi= "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
            <SetupUILanguage>
                <UILanguage>en-US</UILanguage>
                <WillShowUI>OnError</WillShowUI>
            </SetupUILanguage>
            <UserLocale>en-US</UserLocale>
            <SystemLocale>en-US</SystemLocale>
            <UILanguage>en-US</UILanguage>
            <UILanguageFallback>en-US</UILanguageFallback>
            <InputLocale>en-US</InputLocale>
</component>

Now, there’s often the case when multiple components are needed, like this:

<component name= "Microsoft – Windows – International – Core" processorArchitecture = "amd64" publicKeyToken= "31bf3856ad364e35" language= "neutral" versionScope= "nonSxS" xmlns : wcm= "http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns : xsi= "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <InputLocale>en-US</InputLocale>
    <UILanguage>en-US</UILanguage>
    <UILanguageFallback>en-US</UILanguageFallback>
</component>
<component name=" Microsoft – Windows – Shell – Setup" processorArchitecture= "i386" publicKeyToken= "31bf3856ad364e35" language= "neutral" versionScope= "nonSxS" xmlns : wcm= "http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns  : xsi= "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <OEMInformation>
        <Manufacturer>Whatever</Manufacturer>
    </OEMInformation>
    <ComputerName>*</ComputerName>
    <DisableAutoDaylightTimeSet>false</DisableAutoDaylightTimeSet>
</component>

The above example will generate the "Windows could not apply unattended settings during pass (null)" error, because of the processorArchitecture declaration mismatch. So, if your file is for amd64 architecture, make sure no i386 entries are left in the file, and vice versa.

This article applies to Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 7.

Note: do not Copy/ Paste the XML code above, since I had to reformat it, so that it displays better. As such, the code is not parsable.

I recently upgraded to the latest version of !JoomlaComment content commenting component of the award winning Joomla CMS. After the upgrade I noticed that the date was no dislayed corrctly. Namely, it was dispalyed like this: Y-m-d H:M:S which, of course, is wrong.

The solution is really very simple, as the settings form of Joomla Comment states. To repair this problem simply go to the !JoomlaComment > Content Settings > Posting settings page. In the date format field replace the Y-m-d H:M:S values with the PHP ones (variables): %Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S. Like in the following image:

The result is like this (Romanian administrator locale):

I hope this helps!

So, here it is: mount -t udf <filename.iso> <folde or mountpoint>. Simple, right? Suppose you need more mount (command) options, you could go like this: mount -o loop -t udf <filename.iso> <folde or mountpoint>.

Example: mount -o loop -t udf windowsxp.iso windowsxp/

Also, you might want to see the UDF page on Wikipedia to see if your Linux distro has native support for this format. By typing

‘uname -a’

you can see the version of the Linux kernel (am I wrong?) and compare it against the table on that page. I hope this helps!

Here is the screenshot:

Technical details:

FalloutLauncher.exe v 1.0.9.000

Fallout3.exe v 1.0.0.12

After reading through the documentation I drew the following conclusions:

Operation Achorgage DLC (downloadable content) requires a Games For Windows account. Possibly all DLCs (Operation Anchorage, The Pitt and Broken Steel) require GFW.

Fallout3.exe should be updated to version 1.0.0.15, at least. The current version is 1.5.

I suspect the DLCs or the game itself were downloaded from a torrent since FOSE (Fallout Script Extender) cannot run on some versions (see the apropriate page). Normally Fallout 3 DLCs shouldn’t require FOSE in order to run. But they require specific versions of the executable file.

Symptoms:

The radio signal from the brotherhood outcasts cannot be heard. Even if the player is in the vecinity, to the NE of the Nuka Cola Plant. Trying to reach them by foot is futile. The error above occurs.

The radio signal regarding The Pitt cannot be heard.

The game crashes if the palyer tries to finish the main quest (the quest about the water, Project Purity, if I recall correctly) in order to advance to Broken Steel (which requires the that main quest is completed).

Solution:

Buy the game.

Update, if necesary.

Buy the DLCs.

Install the DLCc.

Enjoy the game.

When you are near a vertibird equip the "Fat Man" nuke launcher. Obviously, you nuke them. One shot, one kill. My favorite past time is to hunt them down and blast them out of the radioactive sky after they drop the troops. Unfortunately I only had about 16 nukes and I only found a few vertibirds, but I’m still hunting.

When the vertibird is in sight you can use the missile launcher. It takes about 3 missiles to destroy one vertibird. This is easyer to accomplish when you have many action points (AP). Typically you only get to hit them about three times. So, good luck.

I wish I could have flown one.

MTS is a high definition video file format and converting it seems such a big deal. It might be. However, I managed to convert one such file using only free sotware. Interested? Read more.

There is a number of steps to be taken when converting such files. This is what I did:

I installed x264 codec.

Reboot.

I installed RipBot264v1.13.3.

Reboot.

I installed the software required by RipBot264v1.13.3, from top to bottom: AviSynth, FFDshow and Haali Media Spliter.

I hacked the RipBot264.ini file located in the program folder, the line:

CheckRequiredSoftware=1

to:

CheckRequiredSoftware=0

I had to do this because RipBot264 kept saying that FFDShow is not installed when, in fact, it was.

Reboot.

Then I started to convert the video which took about 5 minutes for a 21 seconds video on an AMD 64×2 4000+, 4GB RAM DDR2 800MHz, ATI Radeon 3650 (512MB, AGP 8X), SATA HDD, Windows XP SP3. Because I didn’t unselect the "low priority" checkbox! If you have a decent system make sure you unselect the checkbox. The output file was an 1920 x 1080 pixels .MP4.

I tested the video with Apple QuickTime (very slow playback of the 1920 x 1080 pixels video on a 1024 x 768 display, didn’t resize to fit the screen) and Windows Media Player (normal playback, full screen, resized).

I hope you’ll find this information useful.
